Many Actuarial Firms provide Third Party Administration as well as actuarial services. In this session we will discuss the nuances between working as a TPA firm vs working for a TPA firm as a Third Party Actuary.
About the Speaker
Mary Ann Rocco, EA, MSEA, began her career in the pension industry in 1981 with a well known third party pension administration company. After working several years in plan document installations third party administration, she took a position with an actuarial consulting firm. In 1987, with an entrepreneurial spirit, a keen understanding of TPA firms and a desire to deliver pension actuarial services that go beyond the ordinary, Mary Ann successfully founded her own actuarial consulting firm. For over 35 years, she has provided actuarial consulting services exclusively to TPA’s. Mary Ann was instrumental in the design, planning and orchestration of the original College of Pension Actuaries (COPA) Actuarial Symposium. After COPA merged with the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA) and became known as ASPPA’s College of Pension Actuaries (ACOPA) and then American Society of Enrolled Actuaries (ASEA). Mary Ann served as ACOPA President in the 2010. Mary Ann is currently a member of ASPPA ASEA Government Affairs Committee and is a frequent speaker at various conferences throughout the country.
As an acting Enrolled Actuary for over 35 years, Norman Levinrad, EA, FSEA, CPC, boasts an impressive history in the retirement industry. Graduating Summa Cum Laude from UCLA with a degree in Applied Mathemathics, Norman went on to earn his Certified Pension Consultant (CPC), Enrolled Actuary (EA), and Fellow of the American Society of Pension Actuaries (FSPA) designations. He founded Summit Benefit and Actuarial Services, Inc. in 1989, providing premiere retirement plan administration and actuarial services to clients and TPAs for over 30 years. Throughout his career, Norman has spoken at industry events and conferences, published several articles in The ASPPA Journal and Journal of Pension Benefits and has served in many leadership roles in ASPPA. With this extensive resume’, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his current role as Chief Actuary at EGPS. In his free time, Norman rides his motorcycle really fast on the race track, watches soccer, and enjoys outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking.
