A new year brings new challenges! Join us for a discussion on some of the lessons learned from 2025 along with new regulatory changes taking effect in 2026. We will evaluate the process for retroactive benefit increases along with some suggested improvements. This session will also analyze asset trends through 2025 and explore emerging topics, such as investments in cryptocurrencies. In terms of liabilities, we can speculate on the direction of the segment rates. Finally, we will look at any potential issues or regulatory challenges that could be on the horizon. Annual compliance calendar will be included as a bonus for signing up.

Lynn Young, Partner, Consulting Actuary, Pinnacle Plan Design
Lynn Young is a Partner at Pinnacle Plan Design, LLC. She is an Enrolled Actuary with over 39 years of experience in the consulting and administration of qualified defined benefit, cash balance, and defined contribution plans. As an Enrolled Actuary, Lynn specializes in actuarial consulting and third-party administration of defined benefit retirement plans, both for direct clients as well as for other TPAs as their back-office actuary. Lynn is a past President of the American Society of Enrolled Actuaries (ASEA, formerly ACOPA) and a current member of the Board of the American Retirement Association (ARA). In 2021 she was named a Fellow of the Society of Enrolled Actuaries, the highest achievement within ASEA. In 2022, Lynn was the recipient of the ASPPA Educator of the Year Award and ASEA’s Edward E. Burrows Distinguished Achievement Award.

Joseph Cimino, Senior Actuary, FuturePlan by Ascensus
Joe Cimino is an Enrolled Actuary with over 15 years of retirement plan experience spanning both coasts. Currently a Senior Actuary at FuturePlan by Ascensus, he reviews a combination of retirement plans with a focus on cash balance designs. Other responsibilities include mentoring actuarial trainees and hosting internal webcasts about plan design. You can find Joe out with his dog or surfing the waves outside the office.
Kason McArthur, Chief Actuary, Hicks Pension Services
Kason McArthur is the Chief Actuary at Hicks Pension Services, and brings over two decades of experience helping plan sponsors navigate the complexities of qualified retirement plans. Since becoming an Enrolled Actuary in 2017, he has been recognized for making technical pension topics accessible and understandable to the layperson. After early career experience in both large and small plan administration, he now focuses on plans sponsored by small employers mostly located across the West Coast. Kason is active in the ASEA community, having served on a few committees, where he enjoys supporting education and professionalism among Enrolled Actuaries.
