In selecting a jury, attorneys must make quick decisions about who they want excluded from the jury with minimal information about potential jurors. This leaves the attorney with intuition, educated guesses, and biases to decide which potential jurors are most likely to be receptive to the attorney’s arguments. This has important implications for the criminal justice system and has made its way into legal fiction in books, movies and television. In this webcast, we will discuss the jury selection processes and use this framework to discuss how actuaries work with clients and colleagues.
