Take a deep dive into the administration of participant loans with ERISA attorney, Brooke Cozort. Although Brooke is now an ERISA attorney, she was previously an administrator at a TPA firm and experienced her fair share of loan withdrawals, loan repayments, and loan corrections. During this session, Brooke will assist those new to the industry understand the rules surrounding participant loans and will assist those familiar with the industry identify how to correct participant loans gone awry. .

About the Speaker

Brooke is an ERISA Attorney with over 20 years of experience working with qualified and nonqualified plan matters. Prior to starting her law career, Brooke was a partner and Vice President of Pension Services at a TPA firm located in Denver, CO. Brooke currently serves as counsel to employers sponsoring pension and welfare plans. The plans include both private and public sector plans, varying in size from a single participant to many thousands of participants. Brooke advises clients on all aspects of these plans, and her services routinely include: (i) drafting plan documents and amendments; (ii) keeping clients updated as to law changes as they affect plan design and operation; (iii) obtaining IRS determination letters, rulings and other technical advisory opinions; (iv) obtaining prohibited transaction exemptions and advisory opinions from the Department of Labor; (v) plan audit representation; (vi) advising as to correction of plan failures; (vii) counseling as to fiduciary responsibility; (viii) preparation of employee communications; and (ix) advising as to reporting and disclosure requirements and other necessary compliance. She has extensive experience in representing plans before the IRS, PBGC and Department of Labor.
