This webcast will look at bias through the lens of Darrell Huff’s classic book “How to Lie with Statistics.” This easy-going discussion will help actuaries have a sharper eye for common “lies” with statistics in everyday situations including advertisements and news media. Additionally, this webcast will help actuaries identify bias in the data they use for their pension valuations and nondiscrimination testing. This session will also encourage actuaries to communicate their results clearly and present data without using any of the “tricks” illustrated in “How to Lie with Statistics".
